More time to read

Just a silly little vent/wish on my part.

I wish I had more time to read! I used to read all the time. I see so many books that interest me, too many to even decide/chose, but at the same time, I just don't read as much as I used to, and I wish I could. Even when I have time, my mind doesn't feel ready to read. It's always shot because of the cognitive demand of the job!

Okay, vent/wish over!

I read almost every night for about 15 minutes before I fall asleep. I think the trick for my brain is that I'm not reading for work, but for relaxation and escape. Try it!

That's what I do, so I'm glad someone else does it, too! I just wish I could read like I did when I was younger...a couple hours a day at least! I'm so jealous my own students get close to 90 minutes a day to read for enjoyment!

I work out of the house over 45 hours a week, and I bring other work home. But I always find time to read I've always had trouble understanding how people who want to read just can't read during the school year (whether in college or teaching or whatever). Sure, there isn't as much time, but I always find time and go through a novel a week for fun at least (sometimes more). But I also read while I get ready in the morning, read before bed, read on the bus on the way to my job, and I always have books with me so I can read whenever I have to sit and wait for something. I'm never far from a book! The huge cognitive demands of my job are actually part of the reason I *need* to read! Relaxes my brain!

I use to read so so much! Not so much anymore...My mind is fried...and I admit to too much online time...I have stacks and stacks of books to tackle! We should start an encouragement board or post!

Reading for enjoyment is put on the back burner for me too, during the school year I do a lot of reading but just not novels. I do try to take a stack on vacation for winter and spring breaks though. And I always have something on my bedstand, they just don't get opened much.
