Classroom Theme Survey

I know it might be too early to even be thinking about this, but what will your classroom theme be for the new school year. In the past, I've done a sports theme. I've been out of the class for the past two years and I've had a color theme of red, white, and black with a splash of yellow to go with a certain mouse to decorate my office.

Let's hear yours!

Over the past couple of years I have transitioned out of having a theme. I do have my AR board a dog theme but it really stops there. I've been more focused on providing a comfortable environment with flexible seating than focusing on a particular theme. That being said, there are a lot of cute themes available so enjoy decorating!

I'm doing a "sweet" theme (candy, cupcakes, pastel colors, etc...) this year. I've had the same jungle theme for a LONG time, so it's going to be quite the feat to change at this point but I'm looking forward to it.

I use black and white with a bit of lime. I used to have a frog theme and I love nature so I have a bit of that also.

I don't really have a theme, but all of my boards are black with an Eric Carle polka dot border. Then the letter headings for my word wall and any other captions I put up are die-cut out of paper we paint for our Eric Carle collage in the spring. And the nameplates on their cubbies are the same Eric Carle polka dot. So maybe that's my (very simple) theme.

next year's theme

never too early to start thinking!! (it's really the one thing that gets me excited to go back...)

my theme will be Super Heroes.

this will be the first year i actually tie the theme in to learning:

something about reading can be our super power.

what's your super power--when we write about our talents/hobbies

who's your hero--essays on someone you admire

being a hero to others--i have a reading unit on how to stop bullying and make the world more inclusive that can tie into this.

i'm hoping to make it not so boyish so the girls can appreciate it.

vocabulary wall will be Wonder-ful Words with the Wonder Woman costume as background

good lord, i just started to get excited...hold me back!

All these themes/colors sound wonderful. My school is not big on classroom themes. I didn't even use themes until I joined PT in 2010 and read about all the themes teachers were using. A few other teachers since then have started incorporating themes into their classrooms.

I don't have a specific theme. I have one big bright green wall in my room and I use black accents with pops of pink and turquoise, but that is as close to a theme as I get.

In either of our schools does a themed room. Mine actually might be the closest to a "theme" - I utilize a lot of blues, greens, and turquoise.

Mine isn't really a theme, but I always like to have primary (and secondary) colors. But I'm big on leaving most walls and things blank, to be filled in as we go. So my room always looks so plain at the beginning of the year.

My favorite things theme
Old 06-22-2016, 07:16 AM

I guess mine is kind of 'my favorite things.' My classroom reflects my love of Harry Potter AND the Chicago Cubs.

I have a lot of Harry Potter quotes on my walls and other HP-themed items but that stuff can be difficult to find. So, in addition to that, I also have tons of Chicago Cubs stuff. I am a huge fan! I just ordered Cubs borders and cut outs to use as name tags. I have signs I got at Wrigley Field and a few posters too. I have a bunch of bobbleheads and autographed photos of players.

This year we're having a school-wide Star Wars theme so I have a few SW items thrown in for good measure.

I am doing red, white, and navy nautical theme this year. Our school theme is pirates, so I can incorporate that right into my theme.

I am leaning towards a travel theme. I teach fourth grade and think it would tie in so well with social studies since we study the regions of the US and learn our states and capitals. Last year I did camping and the students loved it.

We have a school wide theme each year; this year being superheroes. Sometimes we have the theme a few years in a row.

I've never done a theme but I always admire them so much when I see them online! I've stuck with a black and brights color scheme for years now and am transitioning a bit to white with brights, still some black on the bulletin boards for a neutral color because it makes the student work and anchor charts stand out so nicely.

This past year I had a rainbow theme and I loved it and got lots of compliments! I really loved coming into my classroom. The only problem I had was that it was distracting for students at times.

This upcoming year I'm leaning towards a pond/frog theme classroom but really focusing on the colors...dark blue, green, etc. with some little frog and pond accents. Not going crazy.

Ladybug12...do you happen to be the owner of Ladybug Teachers Files? I recognize the logo and I know she also uses black and bright decor.

I have never had a theme classroom but I always focus on cool colors. My bulletin boards are sky blue background and boarders are "poppin patterns" black with multi-colored polka-dots. I use ClassDojo for classroom management system, so I also incorporate Mojo and the students monsters.

Wow, that sounds like a mess in print BUT trust me, it looks great in the classroom.
