Does anyone use Storyworks for your LA program?

We just got a class subscription for this coming year. I believe it's to be used during guided reading...but not quite sure.

You can try it in your classroom and see if it will work for you and your students. See link toward the bottom.

Yes, I have used it (and novels) for the last 2 years in place of the old and boring basal. I love it and so do the students. It is a win win in my opinion. If you have any questions about it I would be happy to tell you more about it.

I would love to hear more about how you use it for Guided Reading!

I used it a bit in the past but would like o incorporate it more this year, especially with my lower level students.

Question

Was this kind of the magazines that's written for multiple grades? Like 3-5? What grade do you teach? I contemplated trying it for my 3rd graders but was afraid it would be a little too challenging for a good portion of the kids.

I use Storyworks to supplement our basal. Articles/stories are extremely high interest and the kids really enjoy them. Online resources are fantastic. Try it!

You will love Storyworks! The stories are timely and help children practice common core ELA skills. Storyworks also comes with an online version where children can practice reading and listening to stories online. The teacher edition also gives access to short videos to accompany the texts.

Hi,
I'm wondering if you use the magazines as a consumable? I teach 2 language arts sections. Would I be able to have a set of 30 and use them for both classes? Do you feel that it does a good job reading all of your standards?
I teach in a district that does NOT have a prescribed reading curriculum and I'm searching for something that would help guide instruction.

Thanks,
Julie
