I was wondering if anyone does this in their classroom? I teach 3rd grade. Can you tell me about it and how I would do something like this. Pros/cons, please. It seems like it is a new buzz word with my P.

I am also interested in genius hour and want to implement it. I have a classroom set of i Pads this year and I think that they could be utilized for researching topics.

I teach 3rd and I've done it for the past couple of years. It's about this time of year that I actually start. No way can I do it this early with my group this year. Anyway, some advice: I would do one entire project as a class so kids can see the process and know the expectations. Maybe chose a topic like Statue of Liberty and then have small groups each be responsible for a different part. When/if you have kids working independent, get as many adults in your room as possible to help during the research and creating phases.

I just watched a webinar about Genius Hour from the Genius Hour website. It was really a waste of time. The first 20 minutes were good and the rest of the time they were pitching their Genius Hour course that you can pay $150 for. I wanted ideas of what it was and how to implement Genius Hour. I guess for that you have to pay.
