I have The West Wing on while I do things around the house and I realized that I really love the character of Jed Bartlett. I also love Dave in the move with the same title starring Kevin Kline. Who is your favorite fake president?

I loved the fake president Dave! If only all presidents did what they could to help the people.

I like so many (and am a huge West Wing fan), but I loved Bill Pullman as a jet fighter President in Independence Day. Cheesey, but I loved it.

And wasn't fave Morgan Freeman President in something???

Just saw "Killing Reagan" the TV movie on the National Geographic channel. Tim Matheson did a great job playing Reagan. The script portrayed Reagan having a sense of humor with the medical staff even after being shot and suffering from a collapsed lung. Matheson did not look that much like Reagan but he sounded like him.

Certainly agree with all the other PTers - American President, Dave, the West Wing, Independence Day... all great fictional Presidents.

I also loved Martin Sheen in The West Wing. My one pet peeve, however, is that he is supposedly from NH, but didn't pronounce our capital correctly (it's NOT like the grape or airplane, but "Con'-curd" w/ accent on first syllable) as well as a town just over the line in MA, which is Haverhill, pronounced "Have-ril" not like it looks. Let's not even get him started on Worcester (Wooster!)

The President from Independence Day had a creepy voice though.

President Palmer from 24. The show lost its appeal for me after he was gone.

Absolutely Jed Barlet with Andrew Shephard a close second.

Maybe I just love Aaron Sorkin.

Another vote for Martin Sheen as Jeb Bartlett. I loved the West Wing and just last summer binged watched every episode.

Michael Douglas in American President is a close second.
