Unexpected day off

Most of the area schools closed today due to a wind/rain storm. There are more power outages than the 98 Ice Storm where it took some places 10+ days to get power back.

The power company is saying a few days at least. They are clearing downed lines today.

We do not have power, but thankfully we have town water/sewer.

Sorry about no power. I hope it does not really take ten days to get power back. Keep us posted. Stay safe.

We had high winds last night and my dd’s town (a few miles east of us) has downtown flooding. She lives downtown (if you can call it that when the town has one flashing light), but fortunately is just west of the road closure and high water. The town green and baseball field, the pizza place and the hardware store are flooded.

We just lost power for a few minutes last night...but otherwise all is well at my house. Looks like the worst of it was all east of us.

Hopefully you will get power back sooner than expected. It’s no fun living without electricity.

You have a very sweet attitude about no power. I hope you get it back sooner than expected.

I'm in central Maine, and we lost power on my way to school. We never cancelled, and we never regained power all day. My kids were pretty great, but apparently the elementary school was the only school in the district to actually go on and teach as normally as we could. The middle school and high school didn't know what to do without technology, so no teaching was done (according to someone who floats from building to building. Anyway, tomorrow is sketchy, but I'm really, really hoping we have school!!

My DD's school (not in the same district I work in) didn't cancel until close to 7am. They had already sent out the buses and picked up some kids. They had to bring the kids back home, lol.

We canceled fairly early - if Augusta closes we close.

Schools closed here.

We lost our power briefly, but it came back on. We are on the same lines as the nursing home down the street so our power outages are usually short. (hope I haven’t jinxed by saying that)

Other side of town and nearby towns not so lucky. We went to the WalMart in the next town this afternoon. They had power when we got there, but all the refrigerated cases were empty.

Son lives in the next town and still has no power. He has a generator and tried working (he works from home), but no internet. If he doesn’t have internet tomorrow he’ll be in our spare room working.

We closed

We were one of the last ones to close and there are some very upset people. Our alert system wasn't working so getting the word out was difficult. The wind was crazy and with all the trees down I don't know how anyone could get there. I was out of power for about 10 hours. It's on now.

We are closed tomorrow since 2 of our schools don't have power and many roads are still closed.

Glad you got some time off but hope your power is back up soon! That's the pits!

We were also closed Monday and 2 hour delay Tuesday. Some still don't have power. Luckily we do.
