Can you recommend your favorite board book? It will be a gift for a baby shower.

My son loved the Sandra Boynton Books. I also liked the “Good Night...” books. They were all about different places-so when we visited Washington we got, “Good Night Washington.” It gives a glimpse not the place. Also loved the, “How do Dinosaurs...” books. They also make abridged versions of picture books-The Crayon books, If you give a Mouse a Cookie, and The Very Hungry Caterpillar to name a few.

My DGD just turned 1. Her favorite books for a long time were the touch and feel board books. She loved petting the animals . We also loved the Sandra Boynton books.

Dear Zoo by Rod Campbell

I started reading this to my grandson as an infant. He just turned 2 and he loves it so much! He loves lift the flap books. He always brings it to me to read when he's here.

DGS is 8 months and he LOVES all the "Never Touch A..." books. They have a dinosaur one, polar bear, shark, etc. It's touch and feel books but they're all kinds of different rubber surfaces so they can be wiped off if the baby spits up on them. He has loved them since he started crawling at 6 months and seeks them out.

Some of our favorites:
Little Blue Truck by Alice Shertle
Welcome Baby by Barbara Reid (she has some lovely nursery rhyme ones too)
On the Night you Were Born by Nancy Tillman
Goodnight Gorilla
Anything by Sandra Boynton
You are my cupcake (and others) by Joyce Wan

A nice idea might be to get some holiday or seasonal books too.

My grandson loved the Baby Lit books. They’re based on classics but are reduced to basic color words, or numbers, or emotions. He learned some Spanish words from Don Quixote, which was his favorite. Look them up.

Dear Zoo and Goodnight, Gorilla were some of my kids' favorites, too!

One of my very favorite books to read with them (and give to others) is
PJ Hallinan-- How Do I Love You? https://www.target.com/p/how-do-i-lo.../-/A-77483064?

I still have it memorized, and my kids range in age from 16-19. "How do I love you? Let me count the ways...."

We also loved The Itsy Bitsy Spider (this version: https://www.target.com/p/the-itsy-bi...k/-/A-11788389)

And the Lady with the Alligator Purse was frequently selected: https://www.target.com/p/the-lady-wi...t/-/A-77836767

The last two, probably because I sang them as I read. So much fun! Thanks for the sweet memories

This one was a big favorite with my youngest two. We read it every night, and I could(can) recite it without the book if necessary.

Time for bed, little mouse little mouse, darkness is falling all over the house.
