Woke up screaming this morning

And it scared the crap outta me AND my brother on the other side of the townhouse. That has never happened before to me. It was bad dream. My body thankfully woke me up, but it did it when I started screaming in the dream. My brother said I screamed twice. Whoa... freaked me out.

Anyone else have similar experiences?

When I was on Lamictal I woke up screaming before. I think it happened two or three different times. Lots of vivid, awful dreams too. I've woke up crying. A few times I woke up choking from crying. These especially happened when I was tired or stressed. The worst part is that when I woke up, I had a hard time believing it was only a dream and everyone was ok.

Long ago I was a counselor at Girl Scout camp. One night I was awakened by screaming. I wondered who was screaming. Next thought was that it was me--and I had no idea why, so I should stop.

I stopped screaming, sat up, and looked around my tent. And there was a terrified camper. She had needed something and come to me for help. Apparently I sensed her presence in my sleep and totally overreacted. Poor kid.

One time I was on a knitting retreat with a dozen women. I had a vivid dream where I was mad at someone and in the dream I yelled, F*** you. I thought I could actually hear myself outside of my dream. The next morning I went down to breakfast and everyone turned around and looked at me.

Yep, I had yelled it out loud and woke people up!

I frequently yell and curse in my sleep. It usually means that Im holding too much in.

I did that once. I was dreaming that I was using the restroom at a gas station and an old man walked in on me. I had a kidney infection and was on pain medication. When I told my doctor, he said I was not to use the medicine again.

I have night terror like episodes where I scream and wake myself up. When I was younger, I actually was running and screaming through the house and my mom had to tackle me. They usually happen when I'm overtired, but they have decreased as I've gotten older.

I woke up crying (sobbing!) once my freshman year of college. Gave my roommate a good scare! I had no memory of the dream or whatever caused it. I remember waking up to her sitting on the side of my bed hugging me and telling me it was okay and I realized I was crying. A real "what the heck?" experience! ( I had shared a room my entire life so I know it hadn't happened before.)

It has happened once and it was so scary that I still remember it vividly 20 years later. I was a bridesmaid in a friend's wedding and staying in a hotel. I was having a dream that somebody was opening the door of my room and I was screaming for help. I woke up and was actually screaming for help.

Oh my goodness, how scary for you both! Do you remember the dream at all?

I have severe ptsd and have nightmares every couple nights, and wake up screaming maybe once a week. Its a pain in the butt. Thankfully my husband is used to it.
