Hair since COVID-19

Clip to ScrapBook #1

I was just wondering how others are coping with their hair since hair salons are closed. My last hair appointment was Feb 28 for color and cut. I have thick hair that grows quickly so I had about a week I was going crazy with hair in my face. I started just trimming a few snips here and there when it was needed but nothing drastic. I thought the gray would bother me, but now, I am actually considering not coloring it when shops open. It doesn't look like I will be going to anything special over the summer so this would be the perfect time to see how it looks. My husband already has the most beautiful silver hair.

I am loving that mine is growing out. Have been trying to,,but hairdresser trims it and I never get the chance to really let it grow.

The color is holding up, roots, not so much. My hairdresser dropped off some root spray that makes all the difference.

with bangs and my hair is stacked in the back. I love my cut because it works well with my very straight, fine hair.

It looks terrible and is driving me crazy. I trimmed my bangs once. That helped some. I could never cut my own hair and keep this haircut. My hair is in a holding pattern.

I have a pixie cut, so it is unattractive as it grows out. I've been in baseball cap or headband mode for the past week.

I keep my hair short and while it has gotten longer since my last haircut back in February it is still quite manageable. I do need (want) a cut since the weather is getting warmer and I like my hair off my neck. I stopped coloring my hair around a decade ago. It’s a pretty silver so I am lucky.

I have fine, super-straight hair, never colored, in a chin-length bob. About a year ago I went to all one length, no more layering, so it looks halfway decent. But it’s way too long, closer to shoulders than chin, and I am definitely looking forward to a cut. I look shaggy.

I’ve had gray hair for 10 years and I love it! It has never been so long. I had it cut in a layered cut back in January and it actually looks pretty good. My hair is super thick so washing 3 times per week is plenty. Pretty happy with my hair. Now, my nails are another matter. I had gel nails. Filed them all off and looking pretty raggety right now. I file and put clear polish to keep them a bit better...

I had my hair cut just prior to the shut downs. I thought he cut it too short, but now am glad! I am doing ok with it so far. My gray is showing on my temples and roots, but I could use a powder root touch up if I was going to go anywhere— which I am not, so I guess it is not a big concern in the whole scheme of things.

Well, about a year and a half ago, I stopped coloring my hair. Then about 6 months ago, I went from shoulder length to a short cut, partly to get rid of most of the colored part of my hair. I like my grey hair, but I've missed 2 haircuts now and it's getting a little shaggy. However, I did want to grow it out a little so that's happening. Salons can open up here tomorrow, but I'm going to wait for awhile. My stylist is a one woman shop so probably safer than a big salon, but I'm still hesitant. Plus she will probably be booked up for the next month anyway.

My hair was pretty short. It's really thick and grows super fast. I had my hair colored but now wonder why. The color now looks much the same because the "new growth" matches my "old growth". What was I paying all that money for?

I had my DH trim the back of my hair because it was super shaggy along the neckline. It doesn't look too bad but I'd love to have a haircut. That won't be happening for a long time because I don't know when I'll be comfortable going into a salon.

I stopped coloring and let it grow out a while ago. It’s my retirement hair. I knew it needed to be easy to take care of since we travel and I wouldn’t be able to have a regular salon. Now It’s long enough for a pony tale. My dh is going to trim it to keep it tidy.

I had an appt scheduled for the first week of all this. My last haircut was January 29th. My salon opens up tomorrow. My gal was already booked up. I can’t get in until May 26th. I have been braiding one side to get it out of my face. I think I am losing more hair. Oh, the joys!

Adding on because I’ve bee thinking about this post.

My mom used to say she needed a haircut because her hair was “hangy.” So that’s always been my standard. FYI, my hair is now officially beyond hangy.

I should have gotten a hair cut in early March. But, I put it off thinking I'd get it cut right before vacation. Then everything closed mid March. So my hair is now the longest it's been in years.

And it's going to get longer, as when the salons open I don't plan to be one of the first customers.

I always suspected I had quite a bit and it is confirmed I used Madison Reed power root touch up when going to get groceries. Don’t bother if I am just going to be at home. Why waste it

My hairdresser had told me that my hair was about 75% gray. When I stopped coloring I found that there was very little gray. Just a few strands around the temples. Not going back to coloring for a long long time.

I just ordered some hair ties. I may soon be joining the ponytail crowd. Not a look I like on most Seniors, but needs must.

I seem to be coping ,maybe because my hair is wavy. It's just a little longer.I usually wear it pulled back, so it's fine right now. My older sister is having a different problem because her hair is straight as a board, dishwater blonde, and very thin. She's resorted to wearing it in a ponytail. Her husband says it makes her look bald, especially at a distance. He is bald, and now he says they are twins!

My salon is opening up with many restrictions next week. I have decided to take a later appointment to give them time to get the kinks out since everything is so new. My hair is much longer and grayer, but I actually am not stressed about it. To everyone: Enjoy your weekend, take care, and be safe!

They're telling customers about their new policies to make sure everyone is safe. I'm still a little nervous about it because the city they are in has more cases than any city in our state, and the number goes up every day. I don't think I'm ready to go into that.

My hair is halfway down my back. I color it blonde and right now half is brown and the other half blonde. My bangs are no longer bangs. I'll probably cut them myself tomorrow and screw it up. I wear my hair in 2 braids a lot. The parents think it's cute! haha

I have decided to roll with the situation and let it grow. I can't do anything about it since the salons are closed so I might as well accept it and enjoy the new longer look. I can't wear headbands with the rubber backing on them because my hair breaks easily and the little fly away broken strands drive me bonkers. When I at home, which in 99% of the time, I pin the bangs back with bobby pins and put the rest up in a scrunchy ponytail holder. The one day a week I need to go to school I go in the evening when no one is there. No one other than my family ever sees me. I am so glad I do not have to do video lessons! My bangs have grown about 4 inches longer than they should be. My last cut was in mid January.

I cut my own bangs after watching a YouTube video. The style is shorter in the middle and graduates longer to the sides. The cut went well albeit much too short. Oh well, who is going anywhere?

Confession time... I cut my bangs and thinned them out with thinning scissors. The confession part is that I used both pairs of scissors that we have for grooming our dog. I also used a colour and highlight kit that I think turned out pretty nice. I usually wear a ponytail in the summer because my hair is thick.
