Broadchurch love

I finally watched Broadchurch on Netflix and wholeheartedly loved it. Exactly my kind of show, really a favorite of all time series. The acting was superb, the storylines were intriguing, and it moved right along. Honestly, for me, this short series ranks with West Wing and Law & Order.

Can you recommend another excellent series? I’m thinking Hinterland or Doctor Foster, but I have no clue.

I only have cable, Amazon Prime, and Netflix—and I’m not getting any more channels. Ideas? Thank you.

Dr. Foster was very good.

The Killing, The Fall, and another one starring Elizabeth Moss I think was called The Lake were good.

Broadchurch is at the top of my favorites list too! All around superb!

Suggestions:
1. Another vote for Hinterland.

2. Shetland -not sure if it is still on Amazon or Netflix?)

3. River on Amazon- a very quirky strange detective in England (I think).
*I have an affinity for the BBC productions.

4. The Killing (American)-Netflix first seasons are best!

5. Top of the Lake (Australian with Elizabeth Moss- I love her acting!)

IMHO, Doctor Foster did not do it for me personally-a bit too soap operish and the story was too outlandish.

and tortured main characters, try Marcella on Netflix.

What I like about the British crime dramas is how messed up the detectives' personal lives always are!

Loved Broadchurch, Midsommer Murders, Shetland, Hinterland, Father Brown, and Death in Paradise. Just finished Grantchester Season 5 on PBS(watched others on Netflix). Also watching Inspector Lewis--long wait on some episodes on Netflix. I really enjoy British mysteries.

Also liked Vera.

Broadchurch was great! Try Hinterland, The Killing, The Five, Marcella, The Fall, oh...what's the name of that one with the guy who was on Dexter? Another Harlan Coban show. I love these kinds of shows where the female detective doesn't wear a black suit, high heels, and is only 25, but in charge of everything!

I enjoyed The Night Manager on Prime starring Hugh Laurie and Tom Huddleston. It’s a 6 or 8 episode limited series.

There's another version of Broadchurch, set in the U.S.--it's the same basic plot with a couple of twists. Not as good as the original but still pretty good. Oddly enough, David Tennant plays the same role, but with an American accent. I think it may have another name but I don't recall it.

You may also like Line of Duty--it is on Amazon prime. Very suspenseful, great acting, also British.

I haven't watched Broadchurch yet, but I do love the British series like the two above. There is something so comforting about the pacing of British murder mysteries and the way they are solved.
So different from the frantic and breathless way American crime series are depicted, although I do admit I enjoyed NCIS for the longest time.

It's going to be hard to match Broadchurch. I think season 1 is about as close to perfect television as it gets.

I second Line of Duty. Wow, it is suspenseful! Great acting as well. I love Vera. It is one storyline per hour and a half episode. 3 episodes per season (or "series"). There are 9 seasons now. Marcella is good. Crazy, but good. I've got to watch season 3 still.

Also, as oic said, Unforgotten is terrific!

I just finished The Five, and it reminded me of Broadchurch.

I'd also recommend The Killing and The Stranger.

I loved Broadchurch!

Does anyone remember the name of the show that is about the inception of the CSI branch of the FBI? It's really good but I can't remember the name...

I read the Erin Kelly book, and I assumed the series was based on it. But I assumed incorrectly! It's actually a novel adaptation of the first series of Broadchurch. I'll have to check it out.

I have no series recommendations- I was thrilled to discover Netflix now has the first seasons of GBBS available, so that's what I'm watching!

Deep Waters was very good!

And Killing Eve...I am not sure if it is on Netflix though. It isn't on Netflix Canada but the US has a larger selection so you might have it.

I also loved The Fall but parts were super disturbing to me. Very well done though, but wow! It stuck with me.

We heard about another Brit detective series called Vera, with the wonderful Brenda Blethyn, but are having trouble finding it.

I love Vera.
I have watched Vera on PBS, but it’s no longer on their Passport service.
I think it may have moved to BritBox.

Sbkangas5, was the show CSI which was set in Las Vegas? I think it was the original. No city in the title. They added the cities to the spin offs.
