Albums and 45s - Worth anything?

We are getting our house ready to sell. I am gathering stuff for trash, Goodwill, and to sell. Are albums and 45 records worth anything? Most of my albums and records are from the 70s. Mac Davis, Donny Osmond, The Carpenters, etc. I also have some country ones such as Kenny Cheney, Toby Keith, George Strait , Shania Twain, etc. Does anyone know if they are worth anything, and if so, where would I go to sell them? Thanks!

I'm not sure about value. Vinyl is making a comeback though. There are yard sale groups on Facebook. See if there is one for your community or county and try selling them through there.

We have several non profit groups that rely on annual book sales. While they have been canceled this year they happily accepted all the books, records and albums from my momís house.
They said they would just store them until the time they can resume their sales.

We have a store around here called Disc Replay that will buy them. Not much money, but more than you had.

I googled "How much are albums from the 70's worth? and found a list of albums that are worth quite a bit of money.

I collect vinyl. It's a very niche market. If your 45s are in very good condition they may be worth something to people who own jukeboxes. Look for jukebox sites and post on their forum. You need to focus on local sites because it is likely that records get damaged during shipping no matter how carefully they are packed.

45s from the 1960s are what sells best.

Album collectors want the record in its original jacket in mint condition. They are more interested in the cover art than the music. If you put your name on it that makes it worthless. Same thing with bent corners.

A few exceptions will sell in not mint condition - The Beatles baby butcher cover, Badfinger Peter Max designed cover, Beatles White Album, some Bowie albums. These should be the original press versions.

tbh 70s vinyl is not really popular. I would expect to get $1 or less for albums by the people you listed, if you find someone who really likes that particular music.

If you have a used record store near you they may give you a few dollars for a bin of albums.

My parents just sold their home of 50 years this week. My dad tried to get some $ from all of the accumulated items...books, toys, vinyl records, tools, etc. He got very little for the books and records and he lives in a major urban area. It would not have been worthy my time and effort, but I guess it all depends on your perspective.

Unless you have a hidden treasure amongst the pile, problem not worth a lot. But, years ago, my daughters had a teacher that somehow used old records, heated them up to shape them into bowls, then had kids paint them as gifts.

Iím going off to google that now.

Any possibility that a local retirement home might accept a donation?

One of my students did that one year. She put the album in the microwave and it curled into the shape of a bowl, and she painted it after it cooled.

I googled crafts with record albums then clicked on images. Lots of really cool ideas.
