National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day

Not as healthy as roasted vegetables but still yummy! Our local gas station chain is giving away one free if you belong to their rewards program. I need gas, so I see a cookie in my future.

Well, I would hate to make chocolate chip cookies feel ignored, so I guess I must celebrate!

I have to ask...does anyone have the world's best chocolate chip cookie recipe they are willing to share?

Any tips would be appreciated too!

Have you tried the classic Toll House recipe found on the back of every bag of Nestle's Chocolate Chips? I love to use it as a starting point for modifications such as using all whole wheat pastry flower instead of white flour. Both tastier and more nutritious. I also use just one stick of butter instead of two but I add an extra egg for moisture along with two or three tablespoons of milk. Or sometimes I throw in some yogurt. Instead of brown and white sugar, I use raw or brown sugar and "date sugar" which is sold in my area and is really just finely ground dates. More flavor! Of course, I add either walnuts or pecans or slivered almonds. It's fun to try different variations on the classic recipe!

Quaker Oats has a great chocolate chip oatmeal cookie recipe to which I add raisins and nuts and also use WW flour.

Have fun celebrating!

Maybe instead of baking chocolate chip cookies, in honor of national chocolate chip cookie day, I'll pick up edible chocolate chip cookie dough from my favorite place!

I just bought some Keebler 's at early bird shopping today! Didn't even know it was the National Day. I seldom buy cookies

Our local store was out of their edible cookie dough! Damnit! I was craving that more than cookies themselves!

Thanks for the tips. Toll House was the first recipe we used but I'm sure there have been improvements in the last 50-60 years. Date sugar sounds delicious. I need to experiment with different flours.

I use crasins when a recipe calls for raisins. The very first cookie recipe, besides Toll House, I made was Paula Deen's Monster Cookies, oatmeal, peanut butter, M& M, crasins, the kitchen sink....
