I am spending the afternoon "alone." DH is asleep on the new furniture which was our present to each other. It is in the family room in the basement beside the gas fireplace. I had to go downstairs to see how hot it was getting down there since I suspected he was asleep. We had been in the hot tub earlier and I was finally out of the shower and had my hair dry. I noticed the thermometer upstairs said 79 from the beautiful sunshine coming in the sunroom windows, so as I was about to start the oven to cook the Christmas ham, I decided I should shut down the fireplace to prevent the house from getting excessively hot. I guess he needs the rest more than he needs my company after all these years of wedded bliss.
Merry Christmas everyone!

Well my dh decided he needed a little nap to get ready for round two today.

So I am all alone finishing up the ham and cake. It is still a relaxed day.

Mine had a nap too....and he was supposed to be cleaning off the dining room table (covered with his stuff). Now he's watching a movie. I'm not happy.

Mine took a long nap while I had dinner cooking and walked the dog. He came home from a 2 week business trip sick, so I think he really needed it. Don't want him hacking around in my kitchen!

Enjoy!

which is very unusual on a holiday. Maybe because we haven't had our main meal yet he is still able to focus.

I guess I'm the dude in our relationship. I took a nap while DS2 napped and DH and DS6 went for a bike ride. Perhaps my carb-loaded diet is the culprit.

took a nap this afternoon after taking to dog to the park to play.

When we got up, DH took her for her afternoon walk while I prepared drinks and munchies to eat in our sunroom. We sat and read and had our wine/beer and cheese and crackers.

that Christmas is MY day to take it a little easier. After all the wks and wks of running around and craziness of shopping and cooking for parties and then a big night Christmas eve, I could not keep it up any longer and decided long ago that Christmas day would be a lay back day. My dh decided a long time ago that he would really like a big dinner on Christmas so has done the whole thing every year since then and again today, including the cleaning up. Well, I did do a little house cleaning while he did that for when family came but basically a pretty relaxing day and he is always so proud of his dinner. Hey, I've done everything for the holiday up till this point so it's nice that he does this.
