new teacher bag needed

I'm trying to spend Christmas money.
I am torn between the 31 utility tote and an LL Bean tote. I'm wanting something with a flat bottom. Is the LL bean bag flat on the bottom? (Looks like it in the pictures.)
If I order a 31 bag online, does it take forever? (I don't like parties for buying products.)

LL Bean does have a flat bottom. I have ordered a 31 bag through a consultant without going through the hassle of a party and it took about a week (maybe less) to arrive. I don't know about ordering online but I'm guessing it doesn't take very long. Good luck with your decision. I will say that I'm super picky about my bags zipping. I know the LL Bean bag does zip and you need to be VERY careful with 31 bags.

I would go with LL bean.

I use a very heavy canvas bag that I got at a hardware store. It's meant for tools. I throw it in the washing machine now and then. I've had it for years.

Just be careful of the straps. I like mine to fit over my shoulder so I can carry it well. The only bag that allowed me to do that well was a Lillian Vernon bag. I absolutely love my bag. It has great pockets too!

Happy shopping!

Don't forget about lands end. Their medium totes make great teacher bags. I have both a lands end tote and a 31 organizing utility tote. I use the 31 tote the most because of the outside pockets. They are perfect for my water bottle and coffee thermos.

Good luck with your choice. You will be happy either way.

Great thoughts! I hadn't thought about a zipper.
I'd guess I could wash the LL Bean bag, if done gently?

My 31 Organizing Utility Tote isn't my favorite. I've dumped it in my back sets more than once since all is open. It is also very floppy.

I really like my Lands End tote, which is similar to LLBean. It stands up, holds plenty, and I've tossed it in the wash . . . even though it says not to.

I don't have any new suggestions, but anyone know where to get a really big bag with a handle and wheels that won't rip if you lug heavy things in it?

Very sturdy, over 20 years old (really!). The bottom is flat and it zips. I used it as a briefcase when I worked in an office for 12 yrs before I started teaching. I still use it to drag teacher stuff back and forth to school. Additionally, I have dragged it as a carry-on when flying a few times. It washes well too.

Thanks to all. I hadn't thought of using it as carry on luggage!
I'm getting an LL Bean zipped medium bag. If I get a large, I'll take more home than I need to.

About a large wheeled bag, this came up in a search. Good sale.

31 now has the organizing bag with a zipper. It's available now for $30. They also have a super organizing tote, which I don't recommend because it's too big and it costs $50.

I already purchased the LL Bean bag, but I have more Christmas money.
DD couldn't understand why I spent good money on a new bag.

I love my 31 tote! I believe they have their online outlet sale starting sometime this week. Things are really reasonable! It takes a link that I do not have. Maybe someone here has the link. It does take forever for these outlet purchases to arrive but the price is worth it.

Did a search of '31 outlet sale' and got this link.

Are there any 31 sellers on PT that could get credit for my sale?
