I know I can't be alone on this...well I hope I'm not alone anyway. Back when the stores were having those great penny sales, I purchased about 20 of these slide pencil boxes. Well I had placed them in such a great spot that I finally found them today while cleaning the basement I know several people used them for task cards and of course the obvious pencil box but what else did you use them for?

I found them to be a good replacement for the cardboard box that colored pencils come in that always tears and a lot easier to put back into when you are done using them than the original box.

Last year my students earned tickets which could be spent for small prizes and classroom rewards.

I needed something for each student to keep his/her tickets in, and I had a bunch of these on hand so that's what I used them for!

I am going to get some of those. I am going to try my 28th attempt at managing pencils. I am going to modify something I got from proteacher. This is going to be it. On Monday (or whatever day) I am going to give them a cheap pencil container with 4-5 sharpened pencils. Then one week later I am going to collect the container (with their name on it), sharpen them and return.
Why?
1.If they are breaking that many pencils, it would be evidence they are misbehaving and I will discipline.
2. Kids don't have to swap out a pencil for a pencil someone else mangled but is not sharpened.
3. No wasted time in class.

So that is what I would do with yours and that is what I'm going to do with mine.

I am going to try to see how crayons fit in them. The children's crayon boxes always rip & I don't hv the space for 20+ large plastic pencil boxes. So, I'm hoping this will work. May not fit a set of 24 crayons but I will have to see if it is a good idea.

I buy them for my students to store their colored pencils. Also, I have several used to store games I made that have small pieces.

Great idea for storing colored pencils!!

For the last few years these I saved the for their Christmas presents with replacement pencils, erasers, etc. Kids loved them!

To make that better, you need a parent volunteer to do that for you every week

I love the pencil idea! I've been looking for a good one, especially since last year's class specialized in destroying pencils. This just might work. Thanks for the idea!
