How Would You Use an Extra Table?

If you had the option of putting a long rectangular table in your classroom, how would you use it if you didn't need it for student seating?

I have an extra table in my room this year, and I'm planning on using it as a writing area for students. I have baskets with different types of paper, envelopes, pens/pencils, and I'll have different writing samples displayed on the wall above. I'm going to be incorporating a writer's workshop format this year, and I'm hopeful this'll help the kiddos to be more creative.

I would love to have an exploration table for science. I would change the focus every week or so to keep the attention of my students.

I use my extra table as an iPad center.

A couple other things I've done with extra tables were-
-Literally leave it as an extra- This was so useful for kids who were having a hard time or needed some extra space or even for partner/group work

-Use it for theme stuff. For example I do a unit on whales and have a bunch of plastic whales/sea creatures that I like to leave out for the kids to look at/play with. An extra table would be great for any theme related stuff.

-Puzzle table- I love puzzles as an activity for both early finishers and for indoor recess/choice time. I keep one going in my classroom and it's awesome to have a space to keep it out for kids to work on

I have 1 big table in the back of my classroom. It's not dedicated to anything, so here are some of its uses:
*2 kids who need individual math help sit there during the lesson on either side of a parent volunteer so that the parent can walk them through the lesson as I teach and help with misconceptions
*Sometimes I teach science there--particularly when I have a lot of materials--because it's close to the sink
*I put baskets of books that "go with" our unit of study for kids to read during RW--for example, baskets of books about weather or space or poetry (I have tons of books).
*often kids choose to sit there (maybe they need to work or read alone or maybe they just need something different--I also let kids sit on the floor).
*if I need kids to choose stuff, I'll put it all out there as it's easy to walk around (the rest of my room is crowded)
*sometimes I use it as investigations: I'll put out realia for them to look at/touch/etc.
*when the teacher meeting is in my room, we sit there
*when the staff meeting is in my room, it holds the treats

Wow, you make me realize it's a hard working table! And right now the table is loaded with school supplies for the coming year.

P.S. I don't have a desk, but I do have a kidney-shaped table for small groups. If I didn't have that, I'd meet with groups at the big table (that's what we call it, "the big table").

I use mine as a flex space, sometimes as a writing center and sometimes for for a tutoring space, or a place for a student who may be bothering his or her neighbors.

Take the legs off for your children who would rather sit on the floor!

I wouldn't take the extra table. I would prefer the open space. I tend to be a minimalist though.

I have 3 tables.
One is the reading group table and my desk area. I did away with a teacher's desk last year and love it.

The second table is permanent space for 4 laptops.

The third one changes throughout the day:
* a new view-someplace else to sit and work, especially during centers
* math games
* work with an adult volunteer
* timeout
* gets the iPads off the floor
* I use it as an organizational space
* science
* art comes to our room on a cart so I know she appreciates it
* always busy during indoor recess

I raised mine as high as I could and found stools for $1 each at a yard sale. Students who prefer to stand and work loved it, too.
