Let's share some ideas on this topic. I think we all could use some tips or ideasnin this area.

Here are a few ideas:

Do a seasonal mini unit.
Change your bell ringers give them a make over
Use an old favorite like 4 corners or jigsaw
Read a novel then watch the Movie version.

Look forward to reading your tipds and ideas.

I gave them a seasonal word search. We're trying to get some assignments finished before break.

I try to increase chances to move this time of year, more stations, centers, 4 corners, etc... They have so much more energy, the more chances given to work with others and move the better I find behavior.

I teach middle school/high school English

Creative writing assignments: 6 word memoirs, Christmas stories without using Christmas words (make them brainstorm a list of Christmas words, write them on the board and they have to write a Christmas story without using any of those words).

Scattergories-my seniors love this the most. Plus, it's fun-they get super creative sometimes. We played yesterday and the letter was "g" and one of the categories was "things found in an ocean" and one of them put "gods" because Poseidon's in the sea.

Grudgeball-reviewing lit terms or vocabulary. Found it on pinterest. Kids love it.
