Knocked back down

After my thrill at having the hernia diagnosed because that gave us a solution, even though that meant surgery, I was knocked back down today and am really struggling.

My doctor and I both spoke with the surgeon today, and it turns out the surgeon doesn't believe that I even have a hernia, much less that it could be causing this pain. So regardless of when I see him, he will not operate.

This all led to the first real breakdown I've had this entire time (2 weeks), aka me sobbing in the hospital bed. I'm tired of being in pain, not being able to sleep, or drive, or work. I hate the pain meds, which are the only way for me to sleep or function in the slightest right now. I just want someone to help me!!!!!!!!! And if one more doctor insinuates that I'm just seeking narcotics, I'm going the chuck the blasted bottle of pills at him and quite possibly lose my mind completely.

I am home now. I did call and make an appointment to meet with a surgeon tomorrow for a second opinion. I see my primary care doctor on Monday.

I'm frustrated and upset and feel like I'm heading back to the "no one believes me anyways and they can't help me, so why even try?" place in my mind. All I want is an answer and a plan, instead of uncertainty and pain meds.

I was just thinking about you! So sorry things are rough. You have every reason to feel frustrated/sad/angry. I'm glad you're getting a 2nd opinion.

Have you considered endometriosis? I've had a hell of a year, similar to you, and one of my conditions is believed to be endometriosis, but the only way to accurately diagnose is with an exploratory surgery. I have pain throughout girly parts and in pelvis and under the belly button. My obgyn put me on birth control and it has helped somewhat. I ask because it's one of those pain things that's not detected on any test.

check for spinal tumors? That was the cause for someone I know who had symptoms for years.

I had a hysterectomy for endometrial cancer last fall and in March was knocked down for about a month with pneumonia. By the time I recovered I was so over being sick I wanted to scream! That is much LESS than what you have been through so I can only even begin to imagine your frustration over all of this. I am glad you are going for a second opinion and seeing your PCP as well. I am so sorry. Please update us when you can and know you are surrounded by prayer!
