I had no reason to become a GCE1, my school is not 1:1 and has no immediate plans of becoming 1:1 or adopting Google Classroom. I was bored last night so I went through all the course materials and took the test this morning.

It was only $10 and it was actually kind of fun.

Oooh, I want to do this! Congratulations! At the elementary level I will be 4:1 this year and middle and high will be 1:1. I just went to a blended learning training and we focused a lot on google. I have used google classroom in the past, but didn't this last year. I am using it again this year, I love it!

That is great.

It is "fun" professional development that benefited you by indicating your knowledge & skills &

You can place it own your resume.

I wanted to do it, but was not one of the teachers chosen at my school. However, my DH is going through training with his district, so I'm using his training materials and doing it myself.

Congrats! I've heard the exam takes 3 hours. Did it really take that long? I want to do this but my anxiety skyrockets for tests and I'm not really a good test taker.

Can't you just do it on your own?

For anyone who is interested in getting Google certified, check out the Google for Education Training Center. https://edutrainingcenter.withgoogle.com/ You can do the free training online at your own pace. The site has information about the different certification and exams. Like OP said, the Level 1 exam is just $10. I just received an e-mail from them this week. They offered 8 training e-mails to get certified in 8 weeks or twice-weekly e-mails to get certified in 4 weeks- both options were free.

Kasey Bell has a blog called Shake Up Learning. She offers an online boot camp, but the cost is $299. (You still need to spend $10 for exam from Google.)

John Sowash also offers boot camps and training at a cost.

I certified for Level 1 this spring (my district offered a cohort to keep us on track) and I did learn some things about GAFE I didn't know. The exam is not difficult and the 3 hour time limit is quite reasonable.

We are 1:1 in our district, so I was familiar with most of the apps. However, the multiple choice practice was quite helpful!

Yes, I can, but I find it helpful to pick his brain after he goes to the meetings. He's the tech guy for his building.

You can do it on your own. Just make darn sure your camera works, your wifi is ironclad, and that you don't have to go to the bathroom or leave your seat anytime during the three hours. And yes it takes the whole time. Your eyes will kill you when you are done.

My district is 1:1 and we use Googke. I am looking into this. How difficult is it?

Our campus is trying to go completely 1:1 Google platform. Our grade level has been the group to incorporate new stuff for the last 3 years and train others. I had no idea that this training existed. We've just done all with trial and error.

Thank you for this.
