Do you feel old?

I know others see me as old, but when counting my blessings I realized that I donít feel old. In fact, thanks to retirementís gift of time, I feel better than ever. When I was younger and running the world, I was weary. Now, knowing I have time to relax, Iím energized. Sure, I have some health issues, but hey, Iím alive and kickiní. My outlook is positive and Iím ready to learn.

What about you? Do you feel old?

Only when I look in the mirror!

I have energy, and take an interest in many things. Though I'm 70, I volunteer as an usher in the urban performing arts complex nearby, do church work, and substitute teach some each month. These things keep me out and about, and I feel like I am still a small part of helping the community hum along.

I spend a good amount of time with our toddler granddaughter as well. Nothing makes me more joyful and optimistic!

The one thing I miss is travel. My hubby has had continuing significant health problems since last June, and so we have been mostly at home since then, even cancelling our 50th anniversary cruise! One exception was a week at Disney World for darling granddaughter's second birthday this fall. Our son came to stay with his dad so I could go along for that trip. Hoping that DH will rally, and we will get back to our footloose ways eventually.

Thank goodness I'm in good health and keep active. Occasionally I feel old physically when my joints and muscles are stiff. Sometimes there are references to things from the past or most often new cultural "truths" or slang I don't get. Not only do I feel out of the loop, but old. The thing that REALLY gets me is when I am invisible to others. Written off because of my age and appearance. That bugs me.

I'm 62 and don't feel old in the least. I do challenging classes at the gym, lead an active and enriching life and have a fair amount of energy.

So I've been telling myself and anyone else who will listen! My grandma was really old when she was 65. I like to think the times have changed, in a good way!

Not that I feel old now, but the aging process and all the downside of that is constantly on my mind. It may be causing some depression.

Mentally, no. I have had some health issues this year, so sometimes physically I don't feel so great. I do find myself feeling more anxious these days. I'm not really sure why.

but when I get addressed as "honey, dear, sweetie" it reminds me that I'm perceived as old.

It's odd how older people and children are labeled with the same terms.

No, I donít feel old though I know I am a senior citizen. That still shocks me! I think having a positive attitude when it comes to life and what it hands you helps a lot. I enjoy retirement and keep active, am involved socially, watch what I eat 99% of the time, read and exercise. Life is good and I am thankful for that.

It is odd to me to remember my grandmother and parents at my age. I don't feel older until I look in the mirror or see pictures from years ago. On the train to NYC the other day, a man was kind enough to ask his young daughter to give me her seat, a very nice offer I refused. Not quite ready for that yet, .

At 65, I still can run a 5K and do the spin and Walk and Tone classes at my gym. In that area, I am more fit than I was when i was younger, probably due to increased awareness about diet, physical activity and health.

Mentally, I feel around 30; but physically, well, unfortunately, that's a different story. I can't lift things or run after my 2 yr old dgd like I would like. I just turned 70 and I'm still in shock. A few years back, I said I still think of myself as "middle aged" until my darling son pointed out that most folks don't live to be 130! I just might, just to prove him wrong!

I don't feel old mentally at 70.
Once I was talking with my mom about 10 years ago. We were reminiscing about when you're a kid and 30 seems "old", when you hit 30 then 50 seems old, etc. She said, "well what do you consider old?" I replied, "90". She said, "Good, I have 2 more years!" She passed away about 5 years later at 93.

I'm cookie baking and dog sitting while everyone else is snowboarding.

It makes me feel old that I have had to give up a lot of physical activities that I loved.
