I would start by showing several copies of the artist's work, either with prints or a power point. Discuss. Ask the students what they think, like and dislike. Discuss color, shapes, balance, symmetry......
Then I would show photos of the artist and give a brief biography. Talk about why they became an artist and how-training and education.
Then I would have them do some art work to imitate the artist's style.
Then have a gallery walk so everyone can walk around the room and see what the artist inspired in each of their classmates.
