Humorous Picture Book

I'm doing a humor theme for a reading program and am looking for the best picture book that falls into this category...something that will initiate laughter and smiles. What is your favorite humorous picture book?

There are two in the series. They give wacky reasons for the rules that most parents teach their children. It's hard to explain, but check one out and read it yourself. What grade do you teach? Humor varies with age.

Grandpa's Teeth is also funny.

Thanks, 1956BD. I have never heard of these books. I'm retired and doing a reading program for grades K-4. We meet once a month, and the goal is to promote the love of reading.

Double Trouble in Walla Walla. It has a great word choice with lots of nonsense words like "hubba hubba" that are fun to say. I have to practice reading this one before hand because it becomes a tongue twister. It is a fun read aloud and humorous too. I will attach the reader's theater as well.

I teach K and my kids LOVE anything by Jan Thomas. "Rhyming Dust Bunnies" and "The Doghouse" are special favorites. Anything by Mo Willems is a riot too. "Knuffle Bunny" and "Knuffle Bunny Too" are a lot of fun.

Anything by Babette Cole will get a giggle!! Dr Dog is a favourite. I am also enjoying the Pigeon books the children love them. Don't let the pigeon drive the bus. It is written in a way that the author is talking to the kids and they love it. You have to ham it up to get full value out of it. We have used them to do drama, persuasion etc and just have a laugh too.

Little ones laugh with Dreadful David ( can't remember author) its a a naughty little one and has lovely language.

by David Shannon. My Kindergarteners want me to read it every day! It's about the author and the naughty things he did as a child. My kids also like Mo Willems' books, Like "Elephant and Piggie" books and Dr. Suess books especially now that they are getting the hang of rhyming!
