Hi there! I am wondering if any of you have a great assessment that you give when you are wrapping up learning about schema? I teach third grade, but would love to see any elementary assessments, or ideas you may have. thank you so much!!!

This is a very open ended assessment I use with my third graders, but the results have been quite impressive for some of them! I have my students create a "poster" about the word schema and what it means. Some of them drew spider webs that catch everything or a filing cabinet of files, etc.. They then write an explanation of what schema is and how it helps you as a reader. These hang in the hallway to "teach" younger students at our school. I have pulled out old student examples to use when teaching the unit the next year. Hearing an explanation in the kids' words is really powerful!
