Clip to ScrapBook #1

Does anyone use the rekenrek in 4th grade? I have seen and heard about it, and even in 4th grade it seems like it would be good for those who really need remediation for number sense. I find that students come to 4th grade and still do not have their basic addition and subtraction facts under their belts. How can we expect them to do multiplication and division?

I am back in 4th after a year in 1st. I'm getting reorganized and beginning to rethink how I go about my math instruction to more closely follow the Common Core. I do center activities with the students once a week. I think I may incorporate the rekenrek into centers.
