I am doing a nautical/cruise theme this year. The focus will be on anchors and life preservers. I have a large space in the library area that needs a quote or something, but I'm drawing blank. Any great ideas?

I like the idea of a nautical literary quote, rather than a play on words. Do you have any ship or water-related books that you're planning on reading aloud the first week of school? Maybe you could pick a great line from a book that you'll be sharing as a class!

Smooth sailing into a new school year
let your dreams set sail
anchor yourself into a just right book
refuse to sink
a smooth sea never made a skillful sailor
you can not direct the wind but you can adjust the sails
you can never cross the ocean unless you have courage to lose sight of the shore
catch the wave to third grade
Whale come (welcome)
Splash into math
welcome to pier 404 (use your classroom number)

Thank you all so much! I am very excited about this theme. I can't wait to see how it comes together so that I can share pictures with you.
