typing on a google slide

Clip to ScrapBook #1

I should already know this. I made google slides to do lessons. So for example my first slide talks about different kinds of figurative language. Then my 2nd slide is a passage with fig lang and questions in which they have to type in their answers.
It seems the only way they can type is if I open the slide, copy and paste the url into the chat bar. Then we all open it and they each have a slide to type on. Is that the only way they can type? (me copy and paste in the chat bar?)

I can't believe I still don't know how to do this. BTW, if this matters, the slide is an attachment in the classwork section of my google classroom.
Thank you

I always insert text boxes in my original and then all they have to do is click and start typing. I even set it for the font and size so they donít have to mess with it.

When you assign it and make a copy for each student the text boxes are there and ready to go.
