Does anyone here teach the 6 traits while at the same time working within a framework where kids are working on a certain genre at a given time?

Have you found that specific traits go well with a certain genre?

I've read both Jennifer Jacobson's "No More I'm Done" and Ann Marie Corgill's "Of Primary Importance" this summer and love both of their ideas, but find I'm having trouble figuring out how to merge ideas from the two.

I do think I need to use a genre-based framework (ie. teach poetry, and procedural, narrative, etc.), but feel I would being a real disservice to my students if I didn't include a lot on the traits as well.

I'm interested to hear about how you manage the two...
