Any suggestions for promoting/expanding interest in this board? We've had a few visitors, but when we respond, it seems they never come back! I'd love any ideas for fun ways to make this board work!

I really don't know. I also see posts by others, but they don't come back, so there isn't a real dialogue going on. Could it be more of a mental health board since so many educators actually have their own issues in addition to the kids?

Hmm. I hadn't thought about that! It would probably get more traffic that way. We all have mental health issues (because of school ). People usually post that stuff on the lounge right now.

Could the title be changed to Mental Health so it sounds more encompassing? Then we could have a grand re-opening!

I wish I could get more mental health providers in my school, well ones that actually do mental help supports that is! :-p

I love the idea of this board! Maybe we could expand the board to include ways to incorporate mental health supports in the gened classroom. I think the idea of mental health is scary for some because of the medical aspect of it, but if we could find a way help teachers see that mental health is not just talking about problems but also finding ways to solve problems without adult help.

Welcome, BenSullens! I think it would be great having mental health support in gen ed rooms. If given tools early, kids are more likely to be able to deal with stressors that come up later in their lives.

Yes, that was actually part of the vision I had for this board! I wanted to bring together not only those of us who specialize in mental health school services, but also all teachers because mental health is a part of the teaching experience. Certainly it's important in both gen ed and sped rooms as well as pullout services/supports! Please spread the word
