So I have accepted the position to be a Math teacher for grades 6-8. I have a degree in math and a minor in education, but I haven't been in a classroom for almost 20 years. Can anyone suggest the best way to get lesson plans and worksheets (which sites, or how else) without needing to 'recreate the wheel myself'?

There is a lot of free resources if you search it online, and I'd probably stick to your district's scope and sequence.

Otherwise you could pull out your wallet and spend it on teacherspayteachers.com. Almost all of the stuff that is on there is formatted in pdf to discourage editing. I really don't care for the fancy cute designs that some of the packets have, but its okay for subplan worksheets.

My biggest piece of advice would be to start with your standards and curriculum.
Pinterest has a lot of resources to get you started.

Teacherspayteachers is also a wonderful resource.

If your district uses common core, check out commoncoresheets.com. It separates lessons by standard or skill. Enjoy your first year back!

I think you will find an amazing number of resources online!
Also, and this is online as well, some school districts have fabulous resources posted online for teachers. Even if you don't live or teach in that school district, or state, you can see what great ideas they are sharing.
