I don't feel as committed to my school after they didn't hire me, so I don't care as much about not taking jobs I really don't want to "help them out."

There are a few teachers at my school that I don't want to sub for, but I was wondering if anyone had any advice about how I could do it without lying, but without looking like I'm picky or something.

I'm sure there are other subs that would be willing to take those jobs, and I'm getting where I don't really care much about the school, personally. Now it's more like "just a job.". I'm not going to bend over backwards for them, now. I do miss the students, though.

Say, “I am not available and then make sure that you don’t sub at that school on that day” or if it is a subject you don’t sub in just tell them “ I’m sorry, I don’t sub for ____classes.

There are 2 teachers at the school I sub at the most that I truly don’t like and frankly the feeling is mutual. But yet they have no problem reaching out when they are desperate. “So sorry I’m booked that day” is my go to. Sometimes I just tell them no. Just depends on how I’m feeling.

That answer covers lots of circumstances, including “I don’t like you” and “I hate subbing for that class.”

I've been there, done that - the going the extra mile thinking it will lead to employment. It hasn't and here I am looking at yet another year of subbing.

I stopped canceling jobs to help someone out; made other districts mad and didn't get me any interviews in the district that I helped out. So I'm done doing that. If a teacher gives me a hard time; I'm done with them. Let them have coverages for their class all day.
