Do you actually go to the bank?

As in, go inside, talk to a teller, etc.? I haven't done that in years and years...99.9% of my banking is done by ATM and computer.

However, yesterday I left my ATM card in a machine (d'oh!!). It's all taken care of: Old card canceled, new card ordered. But the new card won't come for 7-10 days, which means that if I want cash between now and then (and I do! I've only got ~$25 cash at the moment, and of course I can't use debit either) I'll have to actually enter the bank and interact with human beings! I'm joking, but I'm actually a little intimidated. Do I need to fill out a slip? Should I write a check to myself? How does this work, again?

You could actually go through the drive-through service (if offered) and complete a withdrawal slip. You will probably have to present ID but it should not be too hard. Just tell them you need to make a withdrawal. Have your account number and ID and that should do it. Good luck! With all the new technology we get less and less interaction, don't we.

We go to the bank all the time. If you want to get cash out of your checking, write a check to "cash" and give it and your ID to the teller. Some banks make you sign the back and some don't. Easy as pie!

I go to the bank often. I like to do deposits at the window, not ATM.

It is so rare that I step into a bank

It feels really weird doing it. Like using an ATM for the first time way back when.

Thanks for the advice!

I don't even know if my bank has drive-through windows. I actually use a credit union, which means I can use any credit union ATM, and there are many of those that belong to other CU's that are closer than any branch of mine. I've actually never managed to find the closest branch of my CU. It's very odd: There are signs for it on the outside of the (large, multi-office) building, but I've never managed to make it inside and actually find the CU. The next-closest branch is being renovated and they're in a temporary location a few blocks away...somewhere. Also, I don't know what any of these places' hours are, or if I'll be able to get there during those times.

Ugh. Maybe I'll see if I can convince a friend to cash a check for me. Or better yet, not spend any money for the next couple of weeks. Wonder what's in the back of the pantry...?

We go into the bank so infrequently that I had to show ID when I tried to order checks. The only reason I even needed them was that the bank was bought out by another bank, and they changed the account numbers and bank name.

I went in today to transfer money from svgs to checking and to cash a check since I was in there. Then I had to go to a bank that holds a loan of mine so I could refi my truck note to a 3.99% int. rate!!

I do every pay period - that Saturday.

I do a cash only budget, and if I withdraw money from my atm I only get 20s. So, I have to go in and exchange money for 10s and 5s in order for my envelope system to work. I hate going into the bank!

I went in last week to get a couple of certified checks, when I found out that they wanted to charge me $8.00 for each one, I said no thank you! How can they possibly justify $8.00 for a certified check!?

I work a second job that does not provide direct deposit (), so every few weeks I go in to deposit those checks. There is a branch of my bank located inside my grocery store so it's pretty convenient, but I still don't like having to wait in line.

I have left my debit card in the ATM machine before, but it was at the bank so they held on to it for me.

At some stores you can also write a check for a little bit over the amount and they will give you cash back. I know my Wal-mart will let me do this up to $20 over.

I frequently go to the bank. I don't trust the ATM to handle deposits. Also I live in such a small town the tellers know me by name and I NEVER have to show ID.

I don't understand the need to write a check to yourself to get cash. All I do is walk up to a teller, state my account number, and explain that I'd like to withdraw cash.

Since I live 4 hours away from my bank, I hardly ever go. I'm too cheap to use another bank's ATM (fees are too high). If I need cash, I get it while shopping at the grocery story. Boy have times changed...

I actually just learned how to use the ATM matchine to deposit money! Who knew you could do such a thing!

My DH had a check he had to deposit and instead of going in he did it right at the ATM...I was so amazed!

I don't go to the bank because I sleep with my banker and he takes care of all banking business for me. Now, before you think badly of me, my husband manages two branches of a credit union.

My aunt is the bank manager for my bank. So, I just go in there to say hi to her, but I usually go through the drive through the majority of the time.

I always go either inside the bank or through the drive-thru. I've just never felt comfortable and safe doing online banking. I don't use ATM's or debit cards either. I still write out checks. I even had a checker at the grocery store tell me how checks are "old fashioned and out-dated". I don't care, I still use checks.
