Admin taking out life frustration on me

I need some advice.

My admin put me on an in-house improvement plan. Every accusation but one is absolutely false. The one that has some substance is that I did not put my plans in the school suggested plan system. This was not a requirement and that the time of these accusations I had tech issues getting on. The tech department has verified that this was legit. Still, "a good teacher finds a way around obstacles" I was told. I had typed plans but they were not on the school system and they were not detailed. We have had not one discussion ever at my school on what is required on plans.

Two days before I was put on this plan I was in my Admin's office for a meeting regarding a student of mine. At the beginning of the meeting my admin got a phone call about some medical test results. She was told there was a good chance she was going to face blindness in the near future. She began to weep and went very emotional. My planning ended before we could really finish the meeting on this student.

Two days later I was told I was on an improvement plan. One reason was that I was not prepared for this meeting and that I wasted my admin's time. The reality is she could not handle the bad news she got and took up all our time upset. I get that what she was told was heartbreaking. But accusing me of not being prepared as the reason we did not do this meeting is dishonest.

I have two master's degrees in education. I am a reading specialist but a classroom teacher. I have top notch scores in our school. I was even once awarded having the highest improvement of scores in our entire state. I am not a slacker but here I am in this meeting. The other accusation was that I, a reading specialist, refused to teach reading. The other was that my plans did not meet these guidelines that were not in place at the time.

I have since been meeting these guidelines. My plans are right at 27-29 pages each week and it takes me every minute of planning and various after school time to complete them. No one else is being held to this requirement but me.

This week I have a follow up meeting with my admin and the improvement team. Everyone but my admin has been extremely supportive of me. However, my admin has held on to her accusations. We just did progress monitoring in first grade and my students scored very well!

I am struggling on what to say in this meeting. I know that I am in this position because she was given bad news and is taking it out on me. But, I can't just go into the meeting saying that. I plan to bring my progress monitoring results and to simply state that I am not a bad teacher.

How would you handle this? This admin is pretty unprofessional. She's done this to others I am told.

I have had so much anxiety and sickness over this! I have been in the ER twice over panic attacks. I work hard to serve my students and these accusations are just insane.

Also, I am in a non union state. We do have representation but their suggestions are just to let it run its course. Some teachers have suggested agreeing with her to make her happy. But, I disagree. I feel that will be a potential use for her down the road and it just simply is not the truth! I am not going to agree with her that I have done a bad job when I have not.

Personally, after listing all your positive traits and commendations, I would bring up admins bad news phone call. Dont make it the elephant in the room. Just say I understand there was a distressing phonecall. I feel my evaluation should have been postponed.

I agree with Keltikmom, you need to state what happened and that was the phone call caused her distress. You might not want to bring it up, but it obvious that she did not end the meeting at the time that was bad for her.

Have you met yet? I was going to recommend that you definitely take all the documentation of your successes. I agree that the P's issue should be gently mentioned. She's not hesitating to throw things onto you and, while I've always tried to take the high road, I'm also losing out to admin who want to protect their butts. Stand up for yourself in whatever capacity you can.
