What in the World?!?!?!

I was in the midst of posting a new thread on FB just now and somehow my account was disabled?!?!? Said I didn't follow the guidelines?? All I was doing was trying to post a new topic/thread. I'm new to FB, so am sure I clicked something...was trying to get a background with my text like I've seen others do.

It then asks me to provide a photo of myself so it can confirm my identity??!!?? They don't HAVE a photo of me to begin with. (I literally just joined FB for the PT group. NO desire to have an actual FB page, hence no photos of me are connected to FB).

How can they possibly use a photo to identify me? I sent one, anyway, because really what else could I have done? Makes me mad, though.

So, now what?! I didn't do anything wrong. I shouldn't have had to post a photo of me.

How do I contact someone if my account is now disabled?????

I think FB is trying to make sure accounts are for actual people and businesses- not the bots that auto post and advertise. I am sure you can take your picture off after you are authorized.

I thought at first you were talking about PT. I panicked for a minute.

This whole situation is just sad. I am sad.

Happened to my husband three times. We couldn’t figure out why it kept blocking him. He literally only goes on Facebook marketplace. Finally we put a photo of my son from the side as his profile picture. You could not tell who it was, but it worked and he’s not been rejected sense lolMaybe try putting a photo where you can’t really see who the person is clearly, as it worked for him

A friend of mine has a profile pic that is in shadow and you can’t really tell who it is, you could try that. But honestly, you could put up any random person’s pic (grandson has pic of a celebrity for a profile pic and no other pics on his acct)

I’m no techie, eliza, but I think FB is working harder on security. I recently got a “bad girl” note from FB over something I posted which appeared to be something negative by their algorithm. As others have posted, just ask yourself what they’re trying to do (make sure you’re a real person) and figure out a way to work with that. Lots of people post unrecognizable photos—hats + sunglasses + distance = success.

Well, I thought maybe by the time school was done for the day, I'd be able to log back in. Nope. Still says it is disabled.

How does one contact FB if you can't even log into your account?! Does anyone know?

If you have no pictures and no content on your Facebook page that’s probably why it was disabled.

You can ask them to review it:

That part concerns me. Could it it be a hacker trying to make an account with your picture? Be careful and make sure you communicate with Facebook admin only.

Are you sure it was disabled and not just suspended? I’d send a message to the help center at FB and ask them what’s going on.

Name??

I think you said that you had used a version of your PT name to open your Facebook account. However, Facebook (I believe) requires actual names. That may be the guideline violation.

I have heard about people’s accounts that were disabled because it was somehow discovered that they were using fake names. I had a nickname on my account for a while then eventually changed it back to my real name. I never got caught but I have heard about people that it has happened to.

I don’t have Facebook, but I do look at some business and interest pages.
Am I correct that these are offshoots of pages people set up with, and linked to, their real names?
https://www.howtogeek.com/325483/how...facebook-page/

So could eliza4one set up a page with her “real name” and then set up a page with a Facebook name? Then using the privacy settings make her “real name” page invisible.

My guess would be the clearly fake name and lack of picture. They're trying to crack down on bots/fake accounts. I think at least the name is in the FB requirements. If you have another email address, you could try making an account and making it look more like a "real name"- i.e. maybe something like "Eliza Forone" and put at least a random picture up.

THANKS!!

That happened to me a few years ago— I made a dummy account to post to one group and didn’t follow anyone nor any followers, no picture etc. so FB flagged me and wanted all these credentials and I didn’t respond so I got disabled. I don’t want a FB with my real name so that was that!
