Our Social Studies curriculum is so weak and boring. Do you have a curriculum you use and love?

Ours is so boring as well, I would love to hear what people use. I find a lot of good projects through the Mailbox books.

This is curriculum is not that exciting, but sometimes anything different is better than nothing. It might be a place to start anyway!!

Our social studies curriculum is through "Core Knowledge". It is awesome - all our teachers love it.

This year I plan to contact the Junior Achievement program to teach some of the Social Studies goals. It is a WONDERFUL program! They have really good units on family and neighborhoods and much more. The materials are interactive and students love having a guest speaker.

I thought that was a good idea and went to their website for our area. However, I can't find a cost for JA. Is it expensive?

Our district uses Social Studies Alive! and if you know how to use it correctly, it is a great program

The program is FREE as far as I know! When I was in high school, I volunteered for the program and taught a first grade class an awesome unit on their community!
