It was time to color my hair so I picked up a box of "hot cocoa" color, which is really a medium bronze brown. This is the first time I've ever had the dye turn purple as I was putting it on my hair....hmmmm :O

Here's hoping you end up with cocoa rather than plums!

When I...

get my hair colored at the salon, the brown goes on as purple. I wouldn't be too concerned. The fact that it smells like grape may be the company trying to get away from the chemical smell of most hair dyes. Good luck!

I often dye my hair warm browns or reds... the purple is normal! (In my experience though, the more purple, the more vibrant the red in it).

Hope it turns out the way you want

I bet we use the same color! Mine is hot cocoa and turns purple too! I usually notice it more on the color that is still in the bottle than on my head. Glad it worked out.
