The flying monkeys in the Wizard of Oz scared me.

There were parts of Three Lives of Thomasina that were scary.

The Poseidon Adventure

My brother and I got in that theatre by mistake, as children, and we didn't realize it before we both got scared.

I'm with 1956BD in this one. Those flying monkeys in The Wizard of Oz scared my 3 year old self.

Can't think of any others off the top of my head.

Hiker1- My husband feels the same way. It's the one ride at Disney that we skip every time.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang scared me when I was younger. I've thought about trying to watch it again, but I don't want to.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory with Gene Wilder. The tunnel scene completely freaked me out.

As soon as I read the title, I answered Wizard of OZ and flying monkeys. I was an adult before I saw the end to that movie.

About two years ago, I was at the casino. They had a wizard of OZ slot machine. I won a bonus round or something and those darn flying monkeys were part of the high tech 3D images. I wish you could have seen me. I nearly walked away before the bonus was over. I was hiding my head, sliding down the seat, ducking and yes screaming. Had anxiety after that. Had to explain to others that they scared me to death.

Not me, but I had a second grade student that was irrationally afraid I was going to read or show the movie James and the Giant Peach. He would start crying uncontrollably at odd times with this fear. It puzzled me because I had never read it to the class nor mentioned anything about it. I had read it in college for a children's literature class, but never saw the movie. His parents couldn't figure it out either. Strange!

The scene in the new Charlie and the Chocolate factory with Johnny Depp where Veruca Salt gets held down be squirrels is pretty scary to watch as an adult!

war of the worlds, especially when the alien robot things come out of the ground. I'm not sure why They freaked me out, but they did.

When I was younger there was a movie I think it was called Flatliners with Julia Roberts and these young medical students would let themselves die and then their friends would bring them back...I had nightmares about that movie.
