Mask Decision

Well, the new superintendent decided today that we'll be masked (at least for the beginning of the upcoming school year). I appreciated the thoroughness of lists of when/where masks were required...which basically seems to me to be everywhere and everyone except if there are vaccinated adults in a room without students. At least there's some clarity.

Its nice they provided clear guidelines. Things are currently all over the place here, watching to see how it shakes out since school starts in 2 weeks.

"At This Time"

"At this time," masks will be optional, parent volunteers will be allowed, there will be no cohorting, there will be no Covid health room at elementary, but there will be at middle and high schools, and masks must be worn on the bus.

"At this time" are the words used by admin when sending out an email updating the staff!!

My district announced it a few weeks ago and I am so relieved that my kids' district just announced it a few minutes ago.

It was just announced that we have to wear them. As I've said before, I honestly don't mind wearing them if it means saving us from getting shut down later!

Our governor just signed an Executive Order preventing mask requirements in schools. Parents will have the option of masking their children.

COVID numbers at an all time high.

Donít see the logic.

Teachers return this Friday and we still haven't heard. I anticipate we will be wearing them, because the district has been adamant about following tri-county health guidelines, and they're recommending masks in schools. I just wish they'd say for sure. I'm also presuming cohorting and quarantining will go away, but again I'd like them to say for sure!

confusion about proof of vaccine

Around here it's the vaccine mandate being enforced. One district wants the cards on file but so far no one else seems to know how this will unfold!

We are in one of the infamous hotspots

My district announced Friday that everyone is masked regardless of vaccination status and I am very happy with that as I teach elementary and, of course, they aren't vaccinated. Most people are pleased with this but there is a very vocal group of people on FB that are livid.

Another surrounding district that I live in announced yesterday that students are strongly encouraged, not required, to wear masks. They must wear them on busses though. Students who are vaccinated or properly masked will not be excluded (sent home) if they are considered a close contact. (Guess teachers will have to document daily who has a mask on and who doesn't to keep track of that - we all have the extra time to do that?!) Staff will be required to wear a CDC approved mask if not vaccinated.

Just waiting to see what the other surrounding districts announce now.
