I'm currently home on maternity leave, and I'm looking for a way to make a bit of extra cash. There is a Grade Expectations centre in my area that is looking for certified teachers to tutor in the evenings. For those of you who tutor, what kind of money do you make, how stressful (or not) is it, and overall, are the financial benefits worth the time it takes? Thanks for your input!

I do in home tutoring in the summer. Way back in the day.... when I first started teaching...I way underestimated my worth... I now charge between $30 and $50 dollars an hour. I know it sounds like a lot, but I never lack in clients. I don't ever have more than two at a time..(I don't have the clients at the same time) and they have to commit to 2 times per week. I don't let it get stressful. I first assess the student's needs... then I discuss the needs with the parents and then set up a plan. I try to make it fun and end with a computer game...either one of my own that I have purchased or something I find online. I hope this helps.
