This month is slamming our staff. English teachers are giving the SBAC state test next week (hello, that's 2 months before my friends at other schools). We have conferences, report card grades due, a visit from WASC (we have elem, jr, and high school on our campus), and we are holding our breath hoping they will not come into our elementary rooms. 5th grade has to finish the CA Fitnessgram and we need to bubble in the results for every. single. student.

We are all sad/stressed/worried/angry, and cannot wait until April comes. Did I mention we don't have Spring Break until the week before Easter this year?

I'm sorry. Our spring break is the same time as yours and we're all dragging too. Hang in there!

I am sorry. We are in the same boat so I can totally get the stress.

Our 4th grade finished NAEP testing yesterday.

Grades closed yesterday, so report cards will go home next week.

Next Friday I have district wide 3rd grade PLC. That means I have to have a sub for the afternoon while I meet with the other 3rd grade teachers in the district, our curriculum coach , and our Curriculum Coordinator. We are redoing our math pacing guide.

We are starting our eMpower (state testing) on 3/18 and will test all week.

Parent/Teacher conferences start on 3/25, so we have to work until 7:45 PM after teaching all day.

The 14th, 21st and 28th are all extended days , so we are with students from 8am - 4pm.

How does it make sense to test children on a full year's standards two months before the school year ends?

Higher-ups all give lip service to "testing is only part of the picture," while we all know teachers are judged by how students do.
