What is your school's policy concerning connected devices such as an Apple Watch or an internet connected FitBit?

We just had an issue come up and of course my P is behind the 8 ball on this. I'm on our tech committee and would love to have some info for the discussion.

Thanks in advance!

On elementary campuses we updated our policy to be -no internet connected devices, or other technology from home.

At the middle and high schools they let them have the devices, including phones. the middle schools banned phones for a while because of videos being taken...geez these kids... but eventually let them come back. The kids and can have them, and even have them out and listening to music or whatever to the teacher discretion, but they have to be face down on the desk unless they are being used for the assignment (which they do because the district is too cheap to buy by enough devices for the kids to use when teachers do whole class lessons involving technology).

I gave some additional information to my principal. It's out of my hands, but I wanted to do my best.

The elementary schools are a hard no on any devices that aren't district issued.

The middle and high schools are a little more lenient. You can have them so long as they don't become a distraction. So if a student gets a notification and quickly glance down at it, we won't do anything. But if they start fiddling with it, like trying to respond to a text message, then we have an issue. They have to be taken off for assessments.
