The Good and the Uncertain

This is what we know about DD:

Sunday she took her 3rd dose of Abilify (a great anti-psychotic) prescribed by her PCP.

This week she had appointments for:
Dental work
Check ups with PCP and Planned Parenthood
The first of 5 months of weekly group meetings for substance abusers
Counseling which will include a referral to a psychiatrist

We also know she used meth on Sunday night.

Those are mostly very good things, but we've been there before and now her addictions are much more serious. We are cautious. As I write this, who knows what's going on?

Thank you all so much for your concern, support, care, thoughts and prayers!

Nancy

I haven't posted in a while, so I'm behind.

Is your DD still living with that man?
I agree that the above is mostly good.
What a long road you all have walked.

One day at a time is my motto. You know where she is and that she has appointments set up. This is great news! Thanks for the update.

Not exactly the news I hoped you would share, but I see a lot of positive steps. I am happy that she is going to the group and counseling. I hope the right meds will help her stay the path so she can work with the therapists.

I also so hope that you can keep a constant communication with her.

Nancy, how are you and your DH doing? Have you been able to connect with a support group such as Families Anonymous?

It's important to take care of yourself. Dealing with addictions is like running a marathon. Training isn't optional.

I second this. NarAnon was a lifesaver for me during the times of uncertainty with our DD.

I agree with caring for you. My son had difficult years and our relationship is broken but mending. I remember feeling like my thoughts with everything was one tangled mess. Thankfully I found a wonderful counsellor who helped me unravel them. It's still a work in progress.

I wish for continued encouraging news. Many good thoughts to your family and daughter.

At least the lines of communication are still open. Still praying for your peace and a miracle only God can perform on her.
