Scary...go to doctor? TMI

Sorry this is TMi but I'm not sure if I should get this checked out or overreacting.

I started period yesterday. Today has been unusually heavy and a little while ago in the shower it began gushing for lack of a better word. Would not stop for several minutes and huge clots. It just wouldnt stop. I've had history of endometriosis but nothing has ever happened like this. It was so bad I felt panicky. Now I'm wondering, could this have been a type of miscarriage?

I don't know, but I would call the office in the AM and let them decide if you need to be seen!

Has it stopped now? I would call the doctor in the morning and see what they say.

Was your period late? I think I once had a miscarriage and didn't know I was pregnant. I was about a week late and even bought a test, but when I woke up the next morning my period started. I didn't "gush" but I had more clots than usual and they were a bit bigger than usual. I just thought it was b/c my period was so late. However, it hasn't happened since and I am always regular. So, that's what I think. It probably happens more than we know. I would call your doctor though to be on the safe side.

Are you nearing menopause? This happened to me while in perimenopause (at school of course!). I'd gone without a cycle for several months and then I had what you experienced...a day after my period started, there were huge clots and lots of gush.

If you could have been pregnant, then maybe it was a miscarriage. If you are worried, then call your dr.

Ditto. This is absolutely awful. I did this every 3 weeks for a year.

Ditto for multigrade and g8rFan. I called my ob/gyn and they told me if you are bleeding so heavy it fills up a pad in an hour to call or go to the er.

I'm nowhere close to menopause. My doctor is out of office today of course.

Bleeding is within normal levels now.
