I've lost about 10 pounds recently. Is it possible to gain it all back in one meal? I scarfed down a honey butter croissant, salad with bacon and ranch dressing, a sweet tea, and way too many battered mushrooms. I guess my actual entree is going to be lunch tomorrow!

Also, DD cannot get over mushrooms. How can they not be meat? They seem so much like meat!

It takes 3,500 calories to gain one pound of fat, so you would need to eat 35,000 calories over your maintenance to gain 10 pounds!

But, not all weight is fat!

You may see a higher number on the scale for a day or so for a few reasons and they are all perfectly normal:
* More unprocessed food in your belly
* More waste in your system
* water retention from more sodium than usual
* if it was more carbs than normal you may have more glycogen than normal

Also, your weight can fluctuate 3 - 5 lbs in one day depending on lots of factors.

I saw a great video of an athlete who weighed himself throughout his normal routine and his weight fluctuated about 8 lbs.

When I was losing weight, I would fluctuate 3 to 5 pounds on any given day, but I was always down 2 to 3 pounds at the end of the week.

I rarely ate meat for many years, and I often used mushrooms in place of meat in dishes!
