I assume most of us have tomorrow off for MLK, Jr. Day? What's everyone doing? Same old, same old, for me.

DH has his post operation appointment to see if he can get the drain taken out.

After 6 nights in the hospital I am so glad to be home and have a day where I don't have to make sub plans for this appointment!

Students get the day off but not teachers. At least we don't have a bunch of PD scheduled and can use it for semester grades and planning.

I have the day off but will be taking my husband to work (40 minutes away in the same town I teach). Since I canít get in for any appointments during the work week (and since we were out of town all of Christmas break), Iíll be going to the dentist and the eye doctor.

I'm excited because my ds and I are off and so is DH. We don't often all have the same day off. Tomorrow is a family day. We will most likely take Ds somewhere fun.

We have the day off tomorrow and it is my birthday! My SO and I are going to go rock climbing then go to a British pub so I can try Yorkshire Pudding for the first time. I am absolutely addicted to the Great British Bake Off and this has been a goal for a long time!

I bought a new washing machine a couple of weeks ago and it is scheduled to be delivered tomorrow. They told me they would be there between 10-5. So it looks like my day will be spent wait for the delivery man.

We have the day off, but I will need to spend some of it doing lesson plans. Most of February is figured out, but I wanna see if I can get March done, too.

I will also be talking part in the 2020 Day of Service that honors the ideals of MLK and his push for communities to unite for their own betterment through service to comuunity and others. I'll be helping to clean the grounds and gravesites at a local historically African-American cemetery.

Good for you bookgeek!

I am still recovering from knee surgery, so I'm going to be doing spurts of putting my house back together intermixed with periods of elevating and icing my new knee.

For most of the years I taught, it was a regular day with students. We were expected to do a lesson about him. This year, my district does have it off, but I am retired. I will probably just go to the gym for my spin class and relax. Nothing exciting...

No plans other than driving home from the long weekend. I probably will take my xctry skis out for an earlier trek than normal before the drive. Lazy morning reading. I started a puzzle that won't get finished this trip. Will work a little on it.

I'm quite surprised what a mixed bag of off vs. work we have. Since when did schools start to NOT acknowledge MLK, Jr. anymore?

NoKetchup, enjoy your birthday. Mine was on the 16th, so I always had this holiday around or on my birthday too!

(Even though I said same old for me, the schools in my area still have this holiday off.)

Being retired I didnít realize it is MLK Day. I guess that must be why I plan to stay home on my ďmeĒ day. I plan to do some crafts and clean my craft room.

I am trying to get all the laundry/cleaning/school work done this afternoon because the book I had on hold, The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek, finally arrived and I want to be able to just sit on the couch and read tomorrow.

I normally take my kids to a local MLK remembrance march ó my dad was very involved in the Civil Rights movement and actually saw the ďI Have a DreamĒ speech in person. However, it is supposed to be bitterly cold and snowy tomorrow, so I think we will probably skip it and stay home.

Nothing exciting here. I thought about going to a movie by myself if I really want to get out of the house, but probably won't do that unless I feel especially antsy tomorrow. I will probably make a Trader Joe's run for groceries.

I'll be going to the gym since its going to be too cold to ride my bike and having a friendship celebration lunch with 4 of my friends from church. We all get together whenever someone has a birthday and just call it a friendship celebration! Of course we include cake!

Students do not have school, but teachers have inservice. . I, however, took a day of sick leave. I will be taking my 85yo dad for some tests on his heart. He has to fast for all of the tests. His last test isn't until 2 p.m., so he is going to be CRANKY. I would almost rather be at inservice.

Our district is off for the holiday today. I'm cleaning up my sewing studio and planning my next project. Thinking that I may do some baking this afternoon. Not sure if I'll get a workout in today or not. Enjoyed an easy morning of relaxing and drinking coffee before getting started with my day.

I completely agree. When I first started with my district- this was an inservice day for teachers. I was so offended that we get Columbus day off without question and this was not considered a "holiday". I seriously questioned if this was a district that I wanted to work in. A couple of years later, we were told that it would be a holiday for all because they realized that "some people would be offended". Those were their actual words
We still have work to do...
