I clicked and saw it was a Carnival ship. Not surprised. I would not take a Carnival cruise even if they paid me to go.

We were in Key West a couple of weeks ago and watched a ship maneuver to turn around. It looked tough and involved with only one ship doing it. I never thought of the possibility of an accident like this before. Fortunately, I have no plans to cruise any time soon.

oh no! I just saw a blurb on this!

I find it fascinating when something happens in the world and there is a PT connection. (like it's not really real unless someone I "know" lived it???)

I have a Carnival Cruise story that would make your hair stand on end. Ultimately, both my daughter and I had to give depositions about an accident that occurred on board, which we witnessed. Now I say I will never go on another cruise unless I bring my own doctor and a helicopter.

I guess they don't use Harbor Pilots

We were visiting a museum in NYC and we were fascinated by learning how ships, like ocean liners and freighters, were piloted into the dangerous crowded harbor. The harbor pilot has piloted tens of thousands of ships in all types of weather into the harbor without one single accident!

Horrible to hear of this accident. It may well have ruined the cruise for a lot of passengers.
Glad your son and his friends are fine.

We just saw a video on it on tv. My DH who was in the Navy is just shaking his head wondering how something like this happens.

There was a harbor pilot. Evidently the water was unusually rough ( so much so that other ships chose not to dock). Our son and his buddies are going to have a crazy story to share for sure!

Glad things weren't totally horrendous and that they'll be OK!

Glad to hear this from you cruise aficionados! I haven't cruised enough to know which line is bad. I never personally knew Carnival was no good, so that's good to know!

So, which top 3-5 cruise lines are the best ones?

Depends what you are looking for! I just want relaxation and to not think while on a cruise. I donít need ridiculous over the top entertainment. My top three are:

Princess
Holland America
Celebrity

Top ones if traveling with children might be Royal Caribbean, Disney, and Norwegian. They have a lot of things for kids to do but not that relaxing imho.

I've gone on a Princess Cruise to Alaska and agree with Jackie on the quality. It is a superb cruise line. My first cruise over thirty years ago was on Carnival and I did not have or see problems but have read on various boards about the lack of cleanliness and service.
