Ice skating

I skate a lot as a kid and again when my DDs were young.

Dd and SIL took GS to our holiday outdoor rink today and I went with.

Easy peasy I thought.
DD looked at me like I was nuts. But found out SIL had never skated before. So I thought I would help with GS.

You know what? Ice skates are REALLY heavy. And outdoor rinks are lumpy and soupy.

I made it around once, hanging on to the wall the whole time. Half way around my legs felt like lead.

Iím getting old.

The last time I skated I was amazed at how my ankles sort of bent in!

Oh, I love ice skating!

We clean off a part of the lake with neighbors each year to make a rink! This past weekend was the perfect time because the lake was smooth and no snow had melted! The ice was about 3.5 inches thick.

I used to trudge through the woods to a beaver pond when I was in middle school and go skating every day and skate until dark. Then I didn't skate until I had kids. It was crazy how hard it was!
