How to move from one grade to another

I am moving to a new grade level next year.
I have a few things already for that grade level, but not much.
Those of you who have made the move from one grade to another, do you have any tips for me on how to make it easier?
thanks!

If your school has curriculum, I would try to get my hands on the beginning of the year units as early as I could to start looking at it. That will help you with what questions to ask, what things you want to have on hand, and even in some ways to think about routines and procedures.

Are you inheriting a room and/or materials from another teacher? If so, go through the teacher manuals and eye ball everything else.

Talk to other teachers at that grade and ask every so nicely if you could see their plan book to,get an idea of a schedule.

Go on line and find the standards.

Along with the the ideas, I'd start boxing and organizing what to take with me. Also, it's a good time to purge paper files!
Good luck!
