Clip to ScrapBook #1

Hi all!
Next year I will be moving in the the middle school world. I am very excited and nervous. I have been an elementary school teacher for about 10 years. I have never taught middle school, nor did my college program cover middle school. I took my content area certification tests and did pretty well on those.

I am searching for some really good professional development books that will help prepare me for the adolescent world, classroom management, content (ELA/Sped) or anything else that you think would be a good resource? Any tips would also be greatly appreciated!

Does anyone of any suggestions?
TIA

I teach 7th grade ELA and here are some of my favorites:

Notice and Note
The Book Whisperer
Readicide (anything by Kelly Gallagher!)
Write Beside Them (also anything by Penny Kittle!)

I moved from elementary to middle school as well and I've never regretted the move. Good luck!

I will be at the hospital tomorrow with my dad all day, so I may download these on my Kindle tonight if the are available!

I am a little nervous about the jump, but I am going back to work with a wonderful, supportive principal.

Thank you for the suggestions!

or even just meet me in Virginia and I will LOAD YOU UP with some great resources, wonderful professional books. I'm getting ready to retire soon and don't need these anymore. In fact, I am so ready to give these away that I think I will start a thread about it. But if you want these, I'm serious.

Mapquest and see how long it would take me to get to Virginia!

I will be brand new to middle grades. I have a few years in elementary, but since most of the stuff is for little people, I will be starting over again
