Supposedly our state is going to switch from PARCC to a different, shorter type of assessment that is adaptive to the student's abilities. Have you heard any information?

This year it is the Illinois Assessment of Readiness. I have heard it is very similar to PARCC, but don't know too much more. That would be great if it was adaptive!

Its being made by the same people who do the ACCESS testing, which is the testing for bilingual students. So, well see how that changes things.

Fun fact: I just found out 36/43 points on the ELA section are the extended response questions and the math constructed responses are equally weighted. Guess what were working on?

Love the extended response-NOT. We just got an email saying our school will be piloting sections so we get an extra session of ELA.

Our principal told us that they bought questions from the PARCC database for the test, so I'm not expecting the test to be too different this year.

That is probably what we are taking this year, too since our new governor just took us out of PARCC. I heard though that what we will be taking will use the PARCC platform and be very similar to PARCC, just 2 tests less to take. I told my students that if it looks like PARCC, smells like PARCC, it is still PARCC.

WOrking on.

Thank you again for your ideas. I actually love to teach writing but had better start working on it even harder!
