Book Whisperer and Reading in the Wild

Clip to ScrapBook #1

I read The Book Whisperer and really enjoyed it. I have Reading in the Wild out from the library, but I have a lot of other pd books on my list. How is Reading in the Wild different than The Book Whisperer? It looks very similar based on the table of contents. Insterestingly enough, The Book Whisperer was in the education section and R in the W was in the parenting section.

I have read them both...love them both. However, Reading in the Wild is something I reread over and over and use the various indicators of Wild Readers in my instruction. I use them to launch reading workshop every year.

So I've been staring at the book and I think I'm just going to return it to the library because time is ticking and I can only change so much about my instructional philosophy in the next two weeks before school starts. Some of the reviews mentioned that the ideas weren't as practical as the ones in The Book Whisperer so that has deterred me as well. I'll be following this thread
